Hockey is one of the most watched professional sports in the world, and the National Hockey League is the highest level of hockey there is on earth. It is so hard to become a professional hockey player, let alone a legendary one. But that is what Camille "The Eel" Henry became- he became a legendary hockey player in the NHL.
Henry was born in 1933 and tragically passed away in 1997. But he left behind a legendary career for the New York Rangers. What made Camille Henry so legendary? Why is he one of the more well known players in New York Rnagers history?
He is remembered so much because of his very small size in stature. He was considered by many to be the smallest hockey player of his time. But even though he was very small, he was extremely quick and fast on the ice and scored goals at will. He is also remembered to be able to swat the puck out of mid air and into the net and was famed for doing so. Henry played a total of 15 seasons in the NHL, mostly for the New York Rangers. However, he did play with the Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues as well.
Of his many heroics in the sport of hockey, Camille's greatest accomplishments in the NHL included winning the Rookie of the Year award in 1954 and claiming the Calder Memorial Trophy for doing so. He also won the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy in 1958 for a combination of his stellar play and great sportsmanship.
