Philip Anthony Exposito was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada on February 20, 1942. He played the center position for his 18 year career, of which he spent five years with the New York Rangers. During his time with the Rangers he led the team to the Stanley Cup final in 1979. He was considered to be one of the best players in the National Hockey League. He retired from playing in 1981 and then was the coach and general manager of the Rangers for a period of time.
Wayne Douglas Gretzky was born in Brantford, Ontario, Canada on January 26, 1961. He played for the New York Rangers from 1996 until 1999, at which time he retired. Before that time he played for the Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings and the St. Louis Blues. Gretzky was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame right after his retirement. He also worked with the Canadian national Men's hockey team, which won a gold medal at the Olympics. Many people consider him to be the greatest hockey player ever.
Fred Cook who had the nickname of "Bun," was also a Canadian born hockey player. He was born on September 18, 1903 and began his pro hockey career in 1936. His second year he made the NHL Second All-Star Team. During his career, which was 11 years, he played the position of left wing. He was forced to stop playing hockey because of arthritis. After he quit playing he then coached. Cook passed away on March 19, 1988, but was not inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame until 1995.
