The Big Apple and Its Athletes

New York is the home where many athletic legends were born. Some of them still reside there. These men are legends, whether they were baseball players, football players, or even basketball players, and they set records and entertained us like they were movie stars. To watch these athletes play was worth all the joy and cheers.

Frank "Home Run" Baker's New York sweater from 1922 is sitting on display in the Hall of Fame located in Maryland. Also, if there is a New York Yankees fan that wants to see the first class all stars, the Yankees have boasted Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, and Lou Gehrig on their team. Even though Babe Ruth was born in Baltimore, Maryland he still made New York proud to have him in their city and on their team. He played like he was a true New Yorker. Yogi Berra, Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, and Lou Gehrig led the New York Yankees team known as Murderers' Row.

There are also Walt Frazier, Roosevelt Brown, Sam Huff, Tiki Barber, Joe Namath, and Mark Messier. These men gave there sweat and tears for their fans. The Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards is a 17-exhibit shrine to these New York legends and what it was like in Baltimore and New York around the historic December 28, 1958. Visit the exhibit if you want to find out where it all began. Come see where the legends were born and where dreams did come true for some talented athletes.
