Stories of Heroes From September 11th

That fateful day in 2001 was a day that will be marked in history as the most cowardly attack on the United States. September 11th was full of disaster and mayhem, but out of the rubble came some of our nation's greatest heroes.

The heroes of the day not only include those who ran back into the rubble to rescue other survivors, but also those who survived the attack and struggle to survive on a daily basis. Traumatic events often times leave people disabled in terms of their ability to move and continue with life.

One of the stories of that day includes some frantic phone calls placed by the passengers of flight 93. The plane had been hijacked by terrorists and violence had already occurred. There were some passengers who still had the heart and courage to sneak a telephone call to the authorities and give them an idea of what was going on. Although the plane crashed, it went down because brave passengers rebelled against the attackers, disrupted the flight of plane, and made the pilot lose control.

There were other stories about firefighters and police officers who risked their lives, and some gave their lives, in attempts to rescue other people. The dedication and determination some of the people showed should give anyone hope about the success of the future.

Those and many other stories demonstrate the power of a human will and courage when under pressure. With time, people are usually able to get back into the swing of things and continue with life. Whether the buildings go back up or not, no one will ever forget what happened that day.
