Great New York Giants

One team that has many fans is the New York Giants. Many young boys begin playing football, hoping someday to belong to a team like the Giants and gain the fame of some of the great Giants players.

Arnie Weinmeister was a great defensive player. His talent seemed like it came naturally to him and many fans loved to watch him play. He started in high school and then went to college. When he began to play for New York, it was with the AAFC Yankees, but he later played for the Giants in the NFL. He was in the Pro Bowl every year from 1948 until 1951. During the shortest career of anyone in the Hall of Fame, he amassed many awards and honors.

Frank Gifford played both offensively and defensively. He was in eight Pro Bowls and five Super Bowls, known then as Championship Games. In 1956, he took the Giants to a win, making him the MVP that year. An injury occurred in 1960, forcing his retirement. He went back in 1962, this time as a wide receiver. After his retirement in 1964, he commented on the game for CBS. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1977.

Lawrence Taylor is retired now, but was a great defensive player for the Giants, where he played his whole career. During this time, he made a major impact on the game. He was a linebacker in 10 Pro Bowls and he was named MVP in 1986. He has many other honors and awards, and he, with other players, led the Giants to be a great football team.
