David Letterman

David Letterman is a multi-talented person. His childhood played an immense role in his decision to pursue a career in the field of broadcasting. His broadcasting degree was conferred from Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana. He admired his father, who managed to hold the crowd's attention at parties with entertaining jokes. His public figure, Paul Dixon, was another influence in his career. His influences for his late-night talk show were Johnny Carson, Steve Allen, and Jack Paar.

He started his career as a newscaster and announcer at the college radio station. He founded a second campus station. David Letterman’s Worldwide Pants Company hosts his late night show. Letterman is a broadcaster, television host, and film producer. David’s late night entertainment career is only surpassed in length by the former Johnny Carson show. Scouts for guests on Johnny Carson’s "The Tonight Show" picked up on his sarcastically dry sense of humor. He became a frequent guest on the show; later this extended to being the guest host. Letterman’s show originally aired in the morning and earned him a couple of Emmy Awards. Yet the shows ratings were low and it got canceled. The show was placed in a late night time slot, which enhanced a faithful audience. David’s guests included his mother, who is his biggest fan and appears several times annually. In her appearances, at times she reads the Top 10 List.

The Harris Poll placed David Letterman at the top of the TV Personality poll a dozen times during the 1993-2009 time span. The 67th Academy Awards was hosted by Letterman. His jokes did not mirror the gala event, yet he received many requests to host the Oscars from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. David employed his blunder as material for his late night show.
