The economy in New York City has gone through significant changes in the past few months. The stock market itself has been a roller coaster of ups and downs. Businesses have been shutting down right and left with no end in sight. The fewer, more popular stores have managed to survive. Macy's is just one among the giants to survive thus far.
With the economy in disarray, New York City is experiencing layoffs, but not as many as the other states that are suffering. The economy has caused many hard working people to lose jobs and the income needed to survive. New Yorkers have lost a fortune in the stock market. Every time the stocks would plunge, many more people lost thousands of dollars. Many, if they were lucky, would be able to hold onto their jobs, and many more would be lucky enough to find a second or third job to survive on. Those that lost their jobs would have nowhere to turn, and had nowhere to sleep because they were completely broke due to job loss and stocks plummeting.
Though New York City is having a rough time due to the economy, they show promise of surviving this recession and even coming out on top. There is nothing that they can't survive. The turnaround in New York City will be tremendous after the recession. The economy will be reestablished and New York will once again prosper. As the home of the stock market, New York City will turn this economy around.
