The New York Rangers have been a professional hockey team in the NHL since the 1926 season. Over the course of these years, there have been many players who have had the opportunity to play for the Rangers. There are currently 40 different hockey players who are in the Hall of Fame that played for the New York Rangers. This is a staggering number for just one team. Some of the very well known players include Brad Park, Lester Patrick, Ed Giacomin, Fred "Bun" Cook, Dick Duff, Buddy O'Connor, and so many more. Probably the biggest legend ever to play for the New York Rangers was Wayne Gretzky. Many people consider Gretzky to be the best hockey player ever to play the game.

Rod Gilbert, another New York Rangers legend, is the all time overall points leader in franchise history with 1,021 points. He played a total of 1,065 games for the Rangers and made 406 goals and had 615 assists. He was a right wing. Not only was Rod Gilbert the all time leader in overall points, but he is also the all time leader in goals for the franchise. Gilbert is certainly one that will always be remembered as a great New York Ranger. Of course these are just some of the legends that have had the opportunity to play for the Rangers, but there are many other worthy players as well.
