The New York shows in the Broadway district includes some of the most famous productions in the world. Just a few of the longest running shows are Phantom of the Opera, Cats and A Chorus Line. The entire area of the Broadway District includes midtown Manhattan to Times Square with theaters varying in size and production. In 1882, the New York City Broadway shows began. Many felt the attraction to these live performances with international appeal. The Tony is the award given to stars of the Broadway stage.

Cohan, Ira Greshwin, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter and Andrew Lloyd Webber, the productions have grown and attendance has increased. In 1927 the most sought after ticket was for Show Boat. Today, it is could be a tossup between the Phantom of the Opera and A Chorus Line.
