Knicks Legends

The New York Knicks have had some great basketball players in the past. One of the very first that comes to mind is Patrick Aloysius Ewing, who was born in 1962. He began his career with the Knicks in 1985 and played for them until 2000. During his career he was voted rookie of the year in 1986 and was on the All-Star NBA First Team in 1990. He was also on the All-NBA Second Team for six years and the NBA All-Defensive Second Team three times. He played in the All Star game 11 times. While playing for the Knicks he was also on the Olympic basketball team and won two gold medals. He was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and his jersey number 33 has been retired.

Another legendary player would be Willis Reed, Jr. who played for the Knicks from 1964 until he retired after the 1974 season. While with the Knicks he played in two NBA Championship games and on the NBA All-Star seven times. He was also named the rookie of the year in 1965 and the most valuable player in the NBA in 1970. Reed also played in the NBA's 50th Anniversary All-Time Team. In 1982 he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and his jersey number 19 has also been retired. Walter Frazier also played for the Knicks from 1967 to 1977. Walt, like Reed played in the NBA's 50th Anniversary All-Time Team. He was also inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Knicks retired his jersey number, 10, in 1979.
